As a bed wetter, I wore cloth training pants with plastic pants to bed most nights, but on Friday and Saturday nights, I wore an actual disposable diaper to bed, as I stayed up later, got more tired, and thus was more prone to a heavier wetting.
Personally from my experience it's a boy thing. Not just myself but most my sons were still using huggies during the occasionally until past age 10. My youngest is still in bedtime diapers and in my case I went back into 5 years ago. From my experience as a guy and a father of 4 boys, diapers are a regular tool to manage our bladder needs.
